About This Game
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Classic is an enhanced version of the classic Sonic platforming adventure, rebuilt to run smoothly right inside your browser. Enjoy true widescreen visuals, a higher frame rate and refined controls while every zone, boss and secret from the original stays intact. Race through loops, launch off springs and blaze past badniks as Sonic, Tails or Knuckles, collect the Chaos Emeralds in the special stages and stop Dr. Robotnik once again. The game runs fully on this page — nothing to install and your progress is saved in your browser.
How to Play
Use the Arrow keys to move and crouch, and press Space, A or Enter to jump. Hold Down and press jump to charge a Spin Dash, then release to blast forward. Press jump twice in the air to use your character's special ability — Sonic's Insta-Shield, Tails' flight or Knuckles' glide and wall climb. Press Escape or Tab to open the in-game menu where you can change characters, settings and controls. A gamepad is also supported: plug it in before starting the game. The first load downloads the game data, so give it a few seconds on slower connections.
